Triple Zero Nine is a place where the mystical meets the practical, where the every day item takes a flight of fancy, where the simple tool enables a moment of transcendence.

Seeking a way to bring her love of handicraft, industrial design and mystical traditions together, Avery Cross fell in love with the art of hand embroidery. She began picking up the humblest of textiles in the home - pillowcases, napkins, dish towels - and wondering what magic she could create. In studying the line drawings of some great 20th century artists, she discovered how much could be expressed in a few brief strokes and took this discovery into her embroidery. Each piece holds an energy - sometimes humorous, sometimes tragic, sometimes mystical. Each piece tells a story in the stitches, one both instantly perceived and yet slightly different for each person. We find ourselves in them - the parts we cherish, the parts we laugh at, even the parts that remain half-hidden in a veil of mystery.

These pieces are not meant to be mere decorative objects. They are meant to be worn and used. They are meant to be of service. Each piece is crafted with care to be used with enthusiasm. To make you laugh, to make you wonder, to make you follow the threads into the little alleyways of your imagination while you’re doing the dishes, making the bed or setting the table.

Sourced is a repository of practical gems. Having sworn off Amazon in 2017 and always seeking the most natural version of anything she needs (sometimes to the chagrin of her family) Avery has amassed a long list of sources for beautiful, useful, sustainably minded tools.

An eclectic gathering of items from dish brushes to jelly sandals, Sourced is very much a live document, updated frequently with new finds. For each item you will find a brief description of the company behind it with a focus on craftsmanship, sourcing and sustainability efforts. Following is a section with some tips + tricks for selecting + using the items, including call-outs on any easy to make mistakes, often learned the hard way. Finally, the last section contains links to independent shops - online + in-person - where these beauties can be found.
